11] ARTIFICIAL FAULT TEST PLATE FOR PROD TYPE CRACK DETECTORS:

Test plate to check the performance of Prod Type Portable & Mobile crack detectors. The standard test plate is made as per design of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited [BHEL]. It has grooves of depth 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm from top surface. The prod tips are placed with prod spacing of 100 mm to 150 mm over each line and dry magnetic particles are sprayed over. The appearance of lines determine the adequacy of magnetizing current as well as quality of magnetic powder.

17] FLUX INDICATOR STRIPS (Burmah Castrol):

The strip type specimen is attached to the magnetized specimen. The magnetic flux in the specimen is sensed by the indicator and can be detected by application of magnetic ink when the flux value is more than minimum value required for defect detection. The indicators are a sandwich of magnetic foil in which are fine slots to simulate defects. Particularly useful for Wet particle examination.
